On the eve of Lao revolution, Hongsa was born in 1975 in Ban PhonethanNeua, Xaysettha District in Vientiane.
A locally trained and regionally influenced artist, Hongsa's classic watercolors, oil and charcoal drawings are heavily influenced by Thai contemporary artist, AjarnSavai.
"I capture Lao women, and their relationship with children. In Laos, nothing is more beautiful than this", he shared.
Hongsa's work is well known within the Lao contemporary art community for capturing playful yet potent images of Akha women from Luang-Namtha in the northern-most regions of Lao PDR. Each of Hongsa’s paintings tells the life of individual women from ethnic minorities to urban Vientiane mothers, promoting a deeper understanding of gender equality.
